Employee FAQ

Employees – Frequently Asked Questions

Your Success is Our Success.

Welcome aboard! Below are answers to common questions employees have when starting a new assignment through SmallBiz Staffing. If you don’t see your question here, reach out — we’re happy to help.

Pay & Time

Who is responsible for turning in my time?

In general, you are. Some worksites use an on-site time clock or an approved digital process that submits time automatically. If you’re unsure what your assignment uses, contact SmallBiz Staffing and we’ll confirm the correct timekeeping method for your location.

When do I get paid?

Payday is every Friday. As long as your time is submitted correctly and on time, you can expect to be paid weekly on Fridays.

How do I get paid?

All employees are paid by direct deposit. If you do not have a bank account, there are pay card options available. If alternative options are available for your assignment, we’ll review them with you during onboarding.

Your pay information (including pay statements, when available) is typically accessible through your employee portal or delivered by the method communicated at hire.

How do I access my pay stubs and payroll history?

Pay stubs and payroll history are provided through the method communicated during onboarding (often via an employee portal). If you need login help or can’t locate a pay stub, contact us and we’ll assist.

Tip: Keep your contact info (email/phone) updated so you don’t miss pay-related notifications.

How do I change my direct deposit information?

Direct deposit updates are handled through the process provided during onboarding (often through your employee portal). If you need step-by-step help, call or text the office and we’ll walk you through it.

When will my W-2 be available?

W-2s will be available by the last day of January. You will receive a notification by email with instructions on how to access your W-2 through the employee portal.

Assignments & Workplace Questions

What if I’m running late or can’t make it to work?

Contact your worksite supervisor (if applicable) and SmallBiz Staffing as soon as possible. Reliable communication matters — and it helps us support you and the client.

What if I want to change jobs or assignments?

We can help with that. If your current assignment isn’t the right fit, reach out and we’ll discuss alternatives when available. We ask that you do not stop showing up without communicating — it can affect eligibility for future placements.

When possible, giving notice is always in your best interest. It reflects well on you and helps keep strong references.

Who do I contact if I have a concern at my job site?

If it’s urgent or safety-related, notify your supervisor immediately. Then contact SmallBiz Staffing. We want you to feel safe, respected, and supported on every assignment.

What do I do if I get injured or on the job? What if there is an accident?

Report any injury immediately to your supervisor and to SmallBiz Staffing — even if it seems minor. We’ll guide you through the next steps and required documentation.

Can I be hired on permanently by the company I’m assigned to?

In many cases, yes. Some assignments are “temp-to-hire.” If a client wants to bring you on permanently, we’ll help coordinate the process according to the agreement in place.

Benefits & Employee Programs

Do you offer benefits?

Yes. Eligible employees have access to Benefits in a Card, which offers convenient, flexible benefit options you can use when you need them.

Enrollment details, eligibility, and important dates are shared during onboarding and open enrollment periods.

When can I enroll or make changes to benefits?

Enrollment windows and change rules depend on the benefit plan. You’ll be notified about open enrollment and any required actions.

If you have a qualifying life event (marriage, birth, loss of coverage), contact us right away so we can review your options.

Do you have a referral program?

Yes! We offer a $100 referral bonus when you refer someone who is hired and meets eligibility requirements.

If you know someone looking for work, send them our way and let the office know you made the referral so we can track it properly.
